Function Summary
Key player in the network department with responsibility to design, develop, maintain, and support of the company’s hardware and software business applications in the area of data and voice networks, security, and monitoring.
Major Responsibilities
• Work closely with support staff, other teams and vendors to ensure stability and availability in the Company’s network.
• Take ownership of the entire network infrastructure to provide best practices detailed network design, implementation, migration, rollback and ongoing maintenance strategies and documentation
• Document and implement network technology architecture, standards, and design
• Develop, implement and test network, disaster recovery, and systems management operational procedures.
• Equipment selection and capacity planning
• Design, build and support voice network
• Analyze traffic flows, patterns and forecasted network growth to optimize design
• Manage external vendors and contractor relationships
• Evaluate current networks and new technologies, developing solutions and implementing changes as necessary.
• Evaluate network modeling and analysis tools to accomplish network goals.
• Network and system monitoring system selection, implementation and maintenance
• Deliver projects on time and with quality, minimizing mistakes and ensure policies and procedures are followed.
• Assist in the management and overall operations of the networking team, including leading others, helping with team metrics and network performance measurements, project planning and implementation, and scheduling.
• Selects, develops and motivates assigned staff and teammates.
• Provide team leadership, delegation of tasks, verifying and defining requirements for projects and requests, technical consultations and guidance, assuring that change management, time tracking and standard operating processes are followed
• After hour support (7 x 24)
• Network project management including developing detailed project plans, budgeting, acquiring necessary resources, tracking assets, monitoring progress and providing regular status reports to upper management.
• Provides customer service and training to end users as necessary.
• Work independently with little supervision while providing clear documented status and progress of work activities and business issues that impact the department
• Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills:
• Specialized technical knowledge and skills across many applications and platforms, including design, testing, technical writing, and other skills required to architect, standardize, implement, monitor and support voice, data, and video networks.
• A working knowledge of business processes to make sound business decisions.
• CCIE (or equivalent) with deep technical knowledge on Layer -2, and Layer -3 technologies
• 7+ years experience designing, implementing and supporting complex highly-available redundant networks, specifically with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, VPN concentrators and load balancers.
• Strong experience in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and TACACS/RADIUS
• Thorough understanding/experience in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, TACACS+/RADIUS, EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP.
• Experience with various business-class and consumer-class WAN transports including DS3, T1, cable modem, DSL, wireless and microwave.
• Good knowledge of various internetworking concepts such as SNMP, PPP, HSRP, NAT, IPSec, CEF, EtherChannel, bonding, load balancing and ATM.
• Solid knowledge in LAN, WAN, MAN, VPN and network security technologies.
• Experience in a large multicasting, QoS, MPLS and VPN environments.
• Strong knowledge of 802.11 wireless protocols and authentication
• Strong experience in network security audit, policy and security devices (e.g. VPN concentrators, firewall, access policies)
• Extensive knowledge of network security design and best practices; intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS) and port-level authentication
• Hands-on experience with IP Telephony systems, Cisco Call Manager, Unified Messaging, Cisco IPCC, and Call Center Systems.
• Proficient knowledge and experience with network and systems management/analysis tools such as CiscoWorks, MRTG, Sniffer, Nagios, BMC, etc.
• 2+ years systems administration at a minimum of junior administrator level
• Ability to respond quickly, troubleshoot and resolve a network infrastructure problem in a methodical and effective manner.

Preferred Qualifications
• Cisco CCIE or CCNP in routing/switching, voice and security
• Experience supporting VOIP phone switches, auto attendants, voicemail systems and wireless phones a plus
• Knowledge of Windows 2000/2003, Active Directory, IIS, Linux, DNS, FTP and SMTP a plus
• Knowledge of MS Office
• Load balancing technologies
• H.323 Video Conferencing (Polycom)
Education
• Bachelor Degree in Engineering discipline or Information System
• Certification such as CCIE or related educational experience in the three disciplines of routing/switching, voice, and security is highly desired
