Essential Functions:
The Senior Network Engineer has the overall responsibility to design, develop, maintain and support the company’s hardware and software deployed in data and voice networks, security and monitoring.
The candidate will be required to work closely with internal staff, consultants, vendors and users to ensure the stability and the availability of network infrastructure. He/She will take ownership of the network infrastructure to provide detailed network designs, implementation plans and migration and rollback strategies. The candidate will develop ongoing maintenance strategies, document architecture, and create test networks. Candidate will develop state-of-the-art processes for disaster recovery, systems management and other operational procedures and will be responsible for equipment selection, capacity planning, traffic flows, patterns and forecasted network growth. This data will be used to optimize the design, implementation and support for the voice and data network on an ongoing basis. The candidate will ensure that the company is up-to-date with the evaluation of current networks, new technologies, network modeling and analysis tools, network and system monitoring system selection and utilize this knowledge for the implementation and maintenance of the company’s networks. The candidate will be responsible for the overall performance of the network team, the mentorship of others, improvement of metrics, network performance measurements, project planning and implementation and scheduling of after hours support (7 x 24).
Educational Qualification and Certifications
• Bachelor Degree in Engineering discipline or Information System Certification such as CCIE or related educational experience in the three disciplines of routing/switching, voice, and security is highly desired
• Cisco CCIE or CCNP in routing/switching, voice and security
• CCIE (or equivalent) with deep technical knowledge on Layer -2, and Layer -3 technologies
Professional Experience
• 7+ years exp. designing, implementing & supporting complex highly-available redundant networks with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, VPN concentrators & load balancers.
• 2+ years systems administration at a minimum of junior administrator level
• TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP & TACACS/RADIUS; TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, TACACS+/RADIUS, EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP.
• Business & consumer-class WAN transports: DS3, T1, cable, DSL, wireless & microwave.
• Internetworking: SNMP, PPP, HSRP, NAT, IPSec, CEF, EtherChannel, bonding, load balancing & ATM.
• LAN, WAN, MAN, VPN and network security technologies.
• Large multicasting, QoS, MPLS and VPN environments.
• Load balancing technologies such as CSS
• 802.11 wireless protocols and authentication
• Network security audit, policy and security devices (e.g. VPN concentrators, firewall, access policies), network security design and best practices; intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS) and port-level authentication
• Network & systems management/analysis tools: CiscoWorks, MRTG, Sniffer, Nagios, BMC, etc.
• Experience implementing/supporting VOIP phone switches, auto attendants, voicemail systems and wireless phones a plus (e.g. Call Manager, Unified Messaging, Cisco IPCC & Call Center Systems)
• Knowledge of Windows 2000/2003, Active Directory, IIS, Linux, DNS, FTP and SMTP a plus
• Knowledge of MS Office a plus
• H.323 Video Conferencing (Polycom)
